Winter Sports Season Wrap-up

The Buffs exceeded most expectations this season, finishing 9-3 in league and 17-7 overall. Madras qualified for the state tournament after securing the #3 seed in the Tri-Valley League with a win over Valley Catholic. After an impressive
75-60 road win over the Bulldogs of North Bend, the boys faced off agianst Stayton on Saturday, March 4, for the right to go to Gill Coliseum in Corvallis for the Championship Tournament.

The Madras wrestling team had a very successful season and an impressive showing at the state tournament. A school record twelve wrestlers qualified for the state tournament, aiding the Buffalos to a 7th overall finish.

The season didn't quite go as planned for the Lady Buffs, finishing a disappointing 3-9 in
Tri-Valley League action. Next year's roster will return four starters, losing all-league wing Susan Ahern to graduation. The Lady Buffs hope to build on late season success as they begin preparing for next season.

Basketball season is around the corner, and the Buffs hope to make noise in the postseason. Coach Brown has incorporated a very uptempo offense and hopes this will offset the teams lack of size. Practice is underway and the Buffs will face off against Summit on November 29th for their opener.

The Lady Buffs hope to improve on their sub-par 04'-05' season. This season will be the first for new head coach Becky Burchell. All-State sophmore guard Brianna Stacona hopes to lead a talented squad to a successful season. They too will face Summit in their opener.
